Studio Policies
Waivers
All students or guests who enter the C3 studio (lobby not included) must have a signed C3 waiver on file with the C3 office. Waivers are available at C3 or are available for download below. Students who have registered for a class or workshop through Amilia will complete an electronic waiver during registration and do not need to sign a paper waiver.
General Refund Philosophy
All refunds are subject to a 5% administrative fee (inclusive of all programs). Refunds are ONLY granted in the case of extraordinary circumstances and at the discretion of C3 management. Please check your schedule before signing up for classes!
In cases where C3 has to cancel a class or workshop, a full refund will be processed.
All registrations and make-up credits are non-transferable, meaning only the student who is signed up may use them.
Missed Class Make-Up Policy for In-Studio Classes
Attendance
- Students are encouraged to attend all classes, as skills progress from week to week. If a student misses a class, they may ask for class notes from a fellow classmate.
- Students in introductory and intermediate classes must attend at least one class out of the first three classes.
- If a student knows they will not be able to attend a class, they can remove themselves from the class roster by following the instructions below.
- If the student removes themselves from the roster more than 4-hours before the class, then the student is entitled to a make-up credit. See below for instructions for how to use this credit. Students are eligible for two make-up credits during 6-9 week sessions and one make-up credit during sessions that are 4-weeks long or shorter.
Make-Up Policy
Please note: Registrations for classes, workshops, and other programs are non-transferable, meaning that a student may not sell nor gift their spot in a class, workshop, etc., to another student. This policy is firm and there are no exceptions, including among family members.
- If a student knows they will miss a specific class date, they may cancel their reservation for that class by accessing the Make-up/Drop-in Calendar. To cancel a class reservation, click on the class you wish to cancel and click the red “Unregister” button in the pop-up window. A student must cancel their reservation at least 4-hours in advance of the class in question in order to receive a make-up class credit.
- A student may not receive more than 2 make-up classes per class per 6-9 week session and no more than 1 make-up class per 4-week or shorter session.
- Make-up class credits must be used in the same session. Unused make-up class credits cannot be rolled over into the next session.
- If C3 is closed due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances, Administration will contact students directly regarding make-up options.
- All students should contact info@commonwealthcircus.com in the event of injury, illness, or another cause for long-term absences.
Students can use make-up class credits in one of three ways:
- Attend another class:
- Adult students can use the Make-up/Drop-in Calendar to reserve a spot in a class of the same or lower level in the same discipline as their missed class, space permitting. Students can also use make-up classes to attend Fitness, Juggling & Flexibility classes.
- Youth students (or their parent/guardian) can use the Make-up/Drop-in Calendar to reserve a spot in an age-appropriate class, space permitting.
- All make-up classes must be reserved via the Make-up/Drop-in Calendar.
- Attend an Open Studio as a make-up:
- To use this option, a student (or their parent/guardian) should use Make-up/Drop-in Calendar.
- Attend an Online Class or Workshop:
- To use this option, a student can access the Online Class and Workshops! page to reserve a spot in a class of their choice, space permitting.
How to Apply a Make-up Credit:
- To use a make-up, click on the class or practice date and time you would like to attend, then click “Multipass” on the pop-up window. If you do not see this option, it means you do not have a make-up available. Please email info@commonwealthcircus.com with questions!
- The Make-up/Drop-in Calendar will be available after registration for the session closes. All unclaimed spots for session classes will be converted into drop-ins one week after the start of the session.
- **PLEASE NOTE: C3 does not guarantee that there will be spaces available in specific classes or practice times for students to make up missed classes. Classes are often very full; this make-up option is offered as a courtesy, not as a guarantee.**
Injuries
In the event that a student is unable to complete a session of classes due to an injury (whether sustained in or outside of class), C3 will issue an account credit for the value of the remaining classes to be used toward any future class registration. Students must contact C3 promptly via email at info@commonwealthcircus.com to request an account credit in case of injury.
Students with existing injuries or physical limitations are encouraged to schedule a private lesson or attend a Drop-In Class before registering for a session of classes to make sure they can participate in class activities. Refunds will not be granted in cases where an existing injury prevents a student from fully participating.
Weather-related cancellations
- C3 will announce closures due to weather at least 2 hours before class start time.
- Cancellations will be announced over email and on social media.
- If C3 cancels a class due to inclement weather, affected students will be permitted to make-up their class in accordance with the missed class policy above.
Other considerations
Refunds are not given for failure to attend, absence, sick days, or participant dismissal due to unsafe behavior. In the case that a student’s behavior creates a safety concern, C3 staff will make every reasonable effort to resolve the issue in a way that allows the student to continue participating in circus class. C3 instructors have the final say in all questions of safety.
Readiness to Train
- No one may train or be in the studio if under the influence of alcohol, controlled substances, or prescription drugs that impair the student’s judgement.
- No one may join a class without properly warming-up, as decided by the instructor.
- Students must stay home if they are sick and review our COVID-19 Response Plan for guidance on when it is safe to return to the circus studio.
- Students who have or suspect they may have had a concussion recently must be cleared by a doctor before resuming circus training.
- Students are always welcome to observe a class, and not participate, if they or the coach deem the student unable to participate in the class due to injury or fatigue.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need prior experience to do circus?
None of our 101-level classes require any previous experience, and we welcome students of any age and fitness level! You’ll be amazed at the strength and confidence you can develop over a single session.
I’ve done circus before, so what level should I choose?
Please contact us at info@commonwealthcircus.com to set up an evaluation with one of our instructors, and we will find the best level for you!
May I try circus before signing up for a full 8-week session?
Of course! If you want to try some circus but aren’t sure if you can commit to our 8-week session you can sign up for a Taster Class. During a Taster Class prospective students will have the opportunity to try a wide variety of circus disciplines in one action-packed workshop! Alternately, some prospective students chose to try circus by taking a private lesson in the discipline of their choice. If you’d like to request a solo private lesson or group private lesson please submit a lesson request on our Private Lessons page.
What should I bring or wear to class?
- Students should wear clothing that provides comfort without restricting movement or creating potential hazards.
- Form-fitting clothing is recommended, as loose clothing can get stuck on an apparatus or refuse to stay in place when upside-down!
- NO zippers, hooks, velcro, or other fasteners on clothing worn to circus class.
- Covering backs of knees and armpits will make circus training more comfortable.
- Supportive undergarments: dance belts or sports bras are recommended.
- Please remove all jewelry before entering the studio to prevent damage to equipment or lost items.
- Be mindful of personal hygiene when entering the studio. No strong fragrances or body lotion, and be mindful of your own body odor.
- You may bring a non-glass water bottle and a notebook into the studio with you.
What is the class make-up policy? I have to miss a class this session.
