Class plans for one of our trapeze classes at C3. It's so lovely to have this small connection with our coaches, to walk in the next day and get a small glimpse of what went on yesterday through the plans left on whiteboards. We also love the colors used, and the orginization of markers left behind.

Next up in or introdction is @jess_tin ! Jess joined the team as a work-study two years ago, but she just hit her one year anniversary of teaching last month! ✨️🎉 Jessica got her first taste of acro through cheerleading in middle school, and she's often thought about another life in which she continued on to more stunting and tumbling, but she ultimately left cheer because she couldn't bear to miss pep band. It took her a while to get back in the air, but she eventually came across aerials when looking for new things to try after moving to the city, and from there found herself exploring and embracing circus arts and its community here in Boston. From 2017 until the pandemic hit, she trained and performed with the Boston University Aerial Dance program, learning and experimenting with duo and group choreography on various apparatus including silks, sling, hoop, and more. In 2018, she began taking aerial classes at Commonwealth Circus Center, too, and expanded to ground disciplines as well. She has since taken almost every adult class C3 offers, and then some! Jess loves that there is always something new to learn in circus and continues rotating through different disciplines, hard-pressed to pick a favorite; but she especially likes things that involve working with others, like partner acro and duo trapeze, and always finds a home in fabric. Jess has loved being a part of the C3 community over the years and seeing it grow, and is excited to be on the front desk, facilities, and coaching teams, as well as helping out with Circus Up. Join us for an evening of relaxation and Yin Yoga

Join us for an evening of relaxation and Yin Yoga on Saturday, 4/8 at 5:30pm! We'll be turning the studio into a comfy lounge with dim lights and a cozy vibe. In Yin yoga, the practitioner uses props such as blankets, bolsters, straps, and blocks to either increase or decrease sensation. These props can also be beneficial for modifying postures. C3 has blocks, but please bring any additional props such as a blanket if you'd like to incorporate them in your practice. Everyone 16+ is welcome
Yin Yoga is complementary to more dynamic and invigorating yoga styles. In a Yin approach to yoga, the practitioner utilizes long held, passive, floor-based postures, in order to access a safe and positive stress on the deep layers of connective tissue in the body. As this practice emphasizes stillness and silence, Yin Yoga prepares both the body and the mind for deeper experiences in meditation. Drawing from themes in Traditional Chinese Medicine and Five Element Theory, instructor @laurakathrein structures each class to emphasize various target areas and the corresponding energetic and anatomical benefits.
