Coach
Lauren Breunig
Lauren Breunig fell in love with circus while she was a college student working as a camp counselor at Circus Smirkus summer camp. At that point, she had a lot of passion and not many skills, but she was hooked and focused her senior research project on experiential education and social circus after spending a semester in Santiago, Chile, working with the social circus program El Circo del Mundo. Now, she is a professional circus artist based in New England specializing in aerial silks, aerial sling, trapeze, and partner acrobatics. She is also the pioneer of an original apparatus, the Sliding Trapeze. She completed the ProTrack Professional Training Program at NECCA, where she also coached for many years. She has been featured as an innovative artist at festivals around the US and has traveled the US and internationally for workshops, festivals, and teacher trainings. Check out her circus work on Instagram at @laurenbreunig or on Facebook at fb.me/circuslauren
When not circusing, you can find her touring across the US and around the globe with her vocal band, Windborne (windbornesingers.com or @windbornesingers on Instagram/TikTok/Facebook/YouTube).
Teacher Bio
Lauren is a big technique nerd, and her main mission is to help students learn how to use their bodies safely, efficiently, and sustainably so they can keep doing circus for years to come. She is committed to helping students find ways to make circus work for their individual bodies, rather than force themselves to fit an “ideal circus” mold. There is no single right way to do a skill–every movement is a choice that leads to a different outcome, and there can be many “right” choices, and she loves helping students learn where their choices may take them.
